In the mid-80s, after school, I jobbed as newspaper deliverer in the night, 0230 to 0700. The mood and atmosphere of the city was different at that time of day (night), and I always was fascinated by the different feeling and the muted sound and lack of day's noise. I get Bradburian feelings when recalling the time. Familair pla,ces looked totally different, house could turn inbto castles, backyard became adventures, and soijme houses even had tpyical smells that I enjoyed. One house smelled of candy typical for christmas time, and I walked slow int here to be able to enjoy it a few seocnds slonger. Another house ha da glamorous entree like a grand hotel , all oughts and gold and precious woods - and I am thew only living, awake person beign around.

Simple rewards, still very pleasurable.

Needing to climb on stairs to 4th and 5th floors and this several dozen times per night, was the costs of things. Or the one house where I tried to hold my breath for a minute while runnign in and out in haste, because it stank as if there were rotten cadavers hidden in dark corners.

It must sound weired for your ears, but in a way that was the most satisfying job I have ever done. I never felt as okay again with any of my over one dozen later jobs and employments. Strange. Simple pleasures.
