Something does not add up, Like Jim I read that U- 633 was rammed by civilian SS Scorton, but here it reads (Wikipedia):

"U-633 was sunk on 8 March 1943 in the North Atlantic south-west of Iceland, in position 58.21N, 31.00W, by depth charges from the US Coast Guard cutter USCGC Spencer. 43 dead (all hands lost). (Axel Niestlé, May 2005).[4]"

Well it wasn't SS Scorton...nor (big hint) was it SS Olive Branch which sank U28 in 1917....although the modus operendi was similar...

Nope; U-57 was raised and refloated and then scuttled at war"s end. My 'modus operendi' depiction of the demise of the U-boat in question is accurate... a permanent farewell literally off Cape Farewell in '42.

Only one.

U-657. Sunk on 17 May 1943 in the North Atlantic south of Cape Farewell, Greenland, in position 58.54N, 42.33W, by depth charges from the British frigate HMS Swale.
