Default No ships?

So I was looking forward to the recent 129 update. Thought it would be so much better.

But now I can't find any ships. My captain is the watch officer and he has two helpers. They never see anything.

I regularly submerge to use my sonar guy to listen. They never hear anything.

If I don't get a message from BDU for a ship with technology or a wolf pack action, I don't see anyone except the another uboat.

Now I understand that this is closer to reality since very many uboats never sank a single ship and most bottoms sunk where done by just a few uboats, it isn't very fun.

Is there something I am missing or doing wrong for 129?

Im still finding them, but i have found that i need to do a LOT more hydrophone checks, rather than relying on visually spotting them. I have also noticed that it does seem that encounters with enemy shipping since 129 stable have become more infrequent

Thanks for the feedback. When you do your hydrophone checks, do you do manual ones or let your radioman do it?

Switch to electric motors, go to periscope depth, assign an officer with one assistant to the hydrophones and go down to about 30-40 meters and just let them run with it

i generally remain submerged until carbon dioxide levels force surfacing

That is what I have been doing. Thanks though. It could be I have just been having some bad luck.

I appreciate you taking the time to help clue me in.

I have found the same since B129 stable. In fact I took on "Operation Drumbeat", there were no ships at all so I visited New York out of curiosity. When I got there the map said under construction.
