Well I suppose that this does beg the question, is it the same for SH5 or have the Devs changed something? I seem to remember reading somewhere, that historically early on the "Tommies" information on the u-boat was incorrect as to how deep the boat could go, thus they were setting DC way to shallow anyways. It was'nt untill they had managed to capture an intact u-boat they were able to gain major tech on the boat itself and thus change there tactics.....But I'm not sure of the year of this incident.

...regarding passive abilitys, if running with only 1 knot must not mean your RPM is low enough, what i do additional to silent running is set the subs speed to reduce engines not to exceed 50 RPM.

combine this with with sometimes stopped engines, and / or in detonating charges event advance speed to 4-5 knots for a short time using TDW`s deptcharge water distorbances. Also make use of the bold noise maker (release it after evading a precise attack run and the charges are exploding, instandly after release switch to silent running, change course and dept).

some escorts continue dropping charges on that bolds, some continue hunting you, but in many cases i manage to survive till they give up.

Hmm, ok. Shame there's no way (that I know of) to get a report on engine RPM in game... I guess you're doing this manually/by eye?

I do use TDW's DC Water Disturbances but once again I've not noticed the slightest bit of difference with it installed.

Not sure what year you get the first decoy launcher, although you can still activate it even without the BOLD early on - no idea if it actually does anything!

I'll try your methods later today and see how I get on.

Deep Six - no probs, hope it was useful! Re the depth of DCs it's been my experience (up to middle of the second Med campaign) that they'll DC to a depth of 100m or so... at 150/60 I rarely even get shaken around. Sure that'll change as the campaign progresses though.

yes, i manualy set speed using the knots gauge till the 3D RPM gauges shows below 50....

...also, in some cases it isnt needed to run like a chicken if you hear a single escort is pinging you (means no cross or double ping or high profile ping from the side), if a ping hit your sub must not mean that it is returned or usable from the enemy asdic operator, try to stay cool... until you hear a escort is about to make a good precise attack run

I think that's what was getting me... I assumed if I could still hear the pings, then they were still effective. I honestly can't remember if you could hear pings below ASDIC depth in SH4.

I spent a while hunting around the sub for the 3D rpm gauges and found them in the engine room... dropped my speed to about half a knot/40rpm just now after attacking a fairly hefty convoy and got away quite clean after much less time than before! Cheers for the advice dude

there is also another thing...

using SDBDM there is Ktl KUrtz`s BritishAsdicMkI v1.02K integrated, he managed to create a ping sound which is changing by intensity... means if you have a good sound system and of course clean ears , youre maybe able to hear that tiny pebble stone effect which is telling you, this ping have very high energy and returns for shure to its sender.

What do U mean by 'good sound system', Stormfly? The integrated to MB on-board sound + head phones should be enough or we need at least the extra sound module + quadro?

for good results, i recommend at least a Logitech THX quadrophonic or 5.1 sound system (if you also use flightsimulator and live next to an airport, it should be ok for the naighbors), feed by a external sound card using Sound Blaster 2 ZX upwards.

Oh, I see If I obtain this one, I should undoubtedly receive another 'optional scary creaks' from my neighbors in add. to your mod. Besides I live far from the airport and use WW2 'Pacific fighters' and 'Cliffs of Dover' flightsims, so nothing should save me from old granny's sticks.

Hey Hello!

I wrute this message to ask what happens with the IRAI 1.0.0 TDW. It seems that the mod has been abandoned. Wolpacks with this mod much better. It has worked weel with IA subs.

Has it abandoned this mod?

Hello The dark wraith: Does becouse this stopped the progrees of IRAI 1.0.0 for silent hunter 5?
