Default [REL] Remove Lock/Break Lock and Switch Target in UZO/Periscopes

This is my first ever mod of any sort, so be kind :-) All I need to do now is figure out how to get this uploaded to the downloads section.

I was very frustrated by the potential for SH5 and what was actually delivered out of the box. I recognised that SH5 can be the best subsim after it's been moded and patched.

So - instead of staying frustrated I decided, rather then bitch and moan I should contribute instead.

The unfinished state and crazy UI of this game prompted me to learn something new and do something I've never done before, which is make mods.

So for your consideration I present!

No Lock Text Mod
----------------
Version 1.0
06-Mar-2010
JSGME Compatible

This mod removes the annoying and immersion ruining "Lock/Break Lock/Switch Target" text that appears in all the optics.

You will nedd to use the space bar to lock and to keep track of which target you have locked in your head, or using the tactical map, if plot targets are enabled. A far more realistic way of doing things in my opinion.

Note: The "Take Photo" text "should" still appear when it's required by a mission (if it actually ever is).

Disclaimer: As I have never done this before... if it crashes your game, ruins your computer, breaks in to your house, steals your money and leaves you in a bathtub of ice minus a kidney... I take no responsibility!

Oh man, I hate it when that happens!

Cheers, I'll give it a go.
That 'lock' text is a major annoyance.

Awesome, i was looking for something like this!

As a request, do you think it would be possible to move the tag off to the side or something instead of removing it completely? It can get real hard to remember which one is locked on in a convoy sometimes!

That shouldn't be too hard to impliment :-)

I'm away from my gaming machine now, but I'll get on to that in the next couple of days.

Thanks, I was hoping someone would take that out! Good job!

To upload to subsim, you need to request upload access from Neal, just send him a PM -->http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/priv...newpm&u=209959

Then after he approves you should have a button near the top in the download section called "add files" that allows you to upload files.

Hi dotChuckles

great find with that mod Thanks !

using it if no photomission is requested, because there is an issue:

The "take photo box" isnt appearing while in range of photo mission location and targeting the required object. Tested that with the Bergen Harbor recon mission, wich was my first ordered mission inside "Opeartion Weserübung". If your mod is deactivated, the "take photo box" is directly added right of the "lock target box". After klicking that box, a photo of your targeted object is shown and mission is compleded.

No big deal, as this photo missions seams to be rare, its also possible to activate / deactivate this mod while in patrol mode.

yes i ran into the same problem while on the photo recon mission
first i have to say this is one best mods and i didn't want to lose
it for recon missions..........................this is what i did to fix it

open commands.cfg located in C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\Cfg

look for :
[Cmd350]
Name=WP_Take_photo
Contexts=1
Key0=0x4A,s,"SHIFT J" <----add this line

now just lock onto a ship and press shift j......photo taken

p.s. make sure you have the mouse pointer active,or you will
have to use Esc to remove the photo image from the screen

On the Downloads page you will see a notice on the left side "Become one of the MODMEN". Click on the link and you will be taken to Neal's PM page (or you can click on his avatar and PM him from there).

Either way, he can set you up to do it.

Hello dotChuckles,

For future compatibility with other mods that edit the GUI, can you show us how you made this mod, which files to edit and how?

Would be greatly appreciated as its a great mod, just not compatible with the heavier interface mods available.

Thanks!
