Default First stop on on my tour of the Bay

Then as now: built in Glasgow 1886( my 'Wegian' pride can't stand it!) And as she looks today at the San Francisco Maritime Museum. In 13 years she rounded cape Horn 17 tmes. If they could build and lift a submarine of this size in a shipyard in WWII then why can't we build diesel electric boats today in 2014 and carry them around on modern submarine tenders with the crews ready to board them at a moments notice like they do aircraft on carriers?

Retrieving them might be a little tricky, but we could at least refuel them and resupply them for their long journey home.
