Default 3DS Max Problem

Hi all,
I've just installed 3ds Max 2013, and I'm having a slight problem with my blueprints. No matter what format or size they are, they turn up on the planes as a solid light grey. Please help??

I use 3DMax, but I'm not sure I follow you here, pictues may help

Most meshes need to be imported into max ie: obj files. Max can import 17 different file formats then resaved as a 3dsmax file or re-exported back into a .obj file format.

There's plenty of help in max about file format

make sure you have show shaded material in viewport (above)

and

make sure that u have unchecked show frozen in gray if you freeze your plains (dunno how pro u r in max but u want to have them frozen before u start modeling)
