Default Things that make you go Ahhh ****

I've had this type of thread do very well on other forums, hopefully it'll work out here. It's kinda like the "tell us what your doing" thread, A place to post/gripe without needing to start a whole new thread.

Things that make me go ahhh ****

My frist CTD, probably from saving to close to a merchy, As I exited I told myself i coulda just paused it....

Forgetting to check the GWX harbor maps for defenses when leaving a new base.

One thing that made me go "AHHH", was when a friendly surfaced vessel ran over me.

Ahhh **** moments:

-When I'm on a particularly good patrol and I suddenly realize that Monday morning (IRL) is just around the corner.

-My pinky finger malfunctioned while evading escorts and hit the "S" key instead of "Z".

-Evading Gibraltar patrols: diving too deep and realizing that the only way to keep from sinking to my death is to make lots of noise with the engines. (Ahead Slow or better)

-Firing an easy spread into a docked battlecruiser, only to realize afterward that the depth settings sent all four eels into the sub nets.

-Waking up with my face on the keyboard: Priceless!
^^ (No blackmail pics available, sorry )

I got a literal "ah ****"-moment several weeks ago.
Went to the toilet, forgot to pause the game, came back and seen two hurricanes happily strafing my boat with machine gun fire. No casualities, damage was minimal, but lesson learned:
"Never get out of the boat. Absolutely goddamn right!" (Willard, Apocalypse Now)

Lazy kaleuns!

Successful attack on a convoy, after tracking them for a day, took out 3 ships for about 8tons each, able to slip away undetected, but having noticed some of the ships were damaged, and recently.

Seeing the destroyer that was trying to catch up to the convoy from about 30k back, but not avoiding him, and having him find us...... doh!

My biggest ahhh moment was player silent II vs a friend on destroyer commander he detected me and was running in to attack I had a straight shot and fired at about 500 meters hit him and he sank on top of me.

Silent Hunter III ahhh is usually firing at a damaged target and finding that I haven't add enough to the draft to allow for how much of the ship has sunk by and having the torpedo skim off the bottom of the hull rather than exploding nicely under it

Best moment for me has to be while sailing in the atlantic in the Bismark.

I'm moving the crew around due to fatigue when I see a little cinematic screen appear which looks a lot like an aircraft attack.

Definitely an oh bugger moment, bombs bang slap in the middle of the ship, several crew dead and some major damage.

Only downside to playing WSM3.0 is the crews inability to spot aircraft, still don't know what attacked me to this day but I quickly made for home after that attack.

Nope, first convoy encountered of first patrol of a new career. I had enough time to get the screen shot before the next round killed me. Had to surface after 3 wasserbomben (boom boom hoochie woochie) knocked me around real hard. Thought they were supposed to let you surrender.

The game doesn't - if the boat dies, you die.

But SH3 Commander will let you alter the record outside the game:

As Silent Hunter III does not support surrendering within careers, SH3 Commander gives you the ability to mark "Lost at sea" careers as "Surrendered at sea" if you were surfaced with crew on the bridge when your U-boat was destroyed.
I have never done this but I assume it's among the options you would be able to choose from in the "Status" line on the right side of the Commander interface, once your career has ended and provided the circumstances were as decribed above. If you click on the text in the status line and there are options available they should appear for you to choose from.

Yep, it is exactly like that. You have to amend your patrol log too as it will have the whole crew listed as dead.
