Default Pick my next Sub Movie...

There is a fine list of Submarine movies here on this forum. Determinging which one to buy next is now harder than ever!

here is what I have right now, and im looking to go out today and but myself a book and a movie and or documentary, since its my birthday im going to spoil myself.

so, what do you suggest I buy?

Heres what I have, from favorite to least favorite. Maybe the order could help determine whats next!

Das Boot
Hunt for Red October
Crimson Tide
Run Silent, Run Deep
K-19
In enemy hands
The enemy Below
U-571

If you have a book suggestion that would be cool too. I have Blind Mans Bluff, and Iron coffins...

Cheers!

I suggest Torpedo Run. Seems to fit your WWII tastes.

Just for the novelty of it, how about "Hellcats of the Navy" with Ronald Reagan as sub CO and Nancy as the nurse he's in love with. It's not a bad sub movie, either

If you don't already have it, then the six-hour Das Boot is a must, even though it is a touch on the expensive side (circa $40). That, truly, is the best submarine movie ever. All the others are good, too (with the obvious exception of U-571).

My other favorites include:

Run Silent, Run Deep
Hellcats of the Navy
Operation Pacific
Crash Dive

For books, I just finished "Iron Coffins". Fantastic book. Highly reccomended.

Default The Bedford Incident

I have finally learned to appreciate this movie, "The Bedford Incident". It is about a russian diesel boat and an american surface ship, playing chicken in the north atlantic.

Yes, an excellent movie. The book (Bedford Incident) is also a 'must read'. (The book's ending is quite different from the film's, btw).

Just saw "Standby for Action" and "Action in the North Atlantic". Both made in 1943, the latter was alright, about the merchant marine. The first is about a destroyer crew in the pacific, not so great. They're more propaganda films than anything. Showing how "ruthless" the enemy is and the like. Nothing to buy but definitely interesting to watch once just for the historical value.

Wow, I forgot about that movie
If you like S-boats, you gotta see "Crash Dive."
