Default Are there any decent U-Boat movies....

other than "Das Boot"? I have the six hour version of Das Boot and it is fantastic. I would dearly like other decent u-boat movies, but I don't happen to know any. I have The Enemy Below, but I have a REALLY hard time suspending my disbelief when I see how much room there is on the sub, the ridiculous uniforms, etc.

Are there any other decent u-boat movies? Or has Das Boot just spoiled us all so much that nothing else will satsify us?

Nope. There aren't any good U-boat movies besides Das Boot. Sorry.

Well, there is a certain movie with a number in it's title that I won't bother getting into right now...

Ah.... Methinks you are referring to U-571, right? Yes, that movie had so much potenial, but what a letdown. I really liked the submerged sub vs. sub battle.... Yeah, right. How disapppointing.

Remember that The Enemy Below was made a long time ago (1957). Try and focus on the story and actors when it comes to that this is one of the best Submarine movies out there.

Shame the inside of the U-Boat was crap

The film is OK.

I have a copy of U-boot Vestvaarts, made in 1941 aboard a real u-boat. It's fairly hammy, and of course rah-rah-we're-the-good-guys, but it's pretty good for the time.

Just search it from the web. It´s called 'The original uncut version' or something like that. It´s almost 5hrs long and comes in two DVD´s. Much better than the 3hrs version.

I got my copy here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Das-Boot-Min...?ie=UTF8&s=dvd

I plan to watch it from start to finish again in one sitting over the Christmas holidays.
