An application to track competitive tonnage
Hey all,
I'm a web developer for a job and was thinking of something that could be cool that is quite common in flight simulation. Is there an app which lets users install a mod to which exports tonnage sunk / sub position etc to an external service or website? I was thinking, if this data is available via an API in the game, I could create a leader board / competitive website to let people compare tonnage rates (or cooperate in a macro style). If coordinates are available and accurate, peoples locations and routes could be tracked on a map showing who destroyed what, and where they did it. Has anything like this been done before - any idea if the data can be extracted? Thanks |

Ha, great idea and welcome to SUBSIM.
We had something exactly like this around ~2001 - 2003 with the WolfPack League (WPL) where the scores were entered by a Battle Reporter (BR) who took special training and participated in the online battle between the Silent Hunter 2 and Destroyer Command players. As far as I know though, none of this data was saved from the glory days, but I do remember over 10,000 registered users at one point! |
