Yeah, and The History Channel has funded a "reinvisioning" of Roots. I fail to see the point in either case.

Watched Zootopia today.

They nailed it. Solid animation, voice work, fleshed out characters that develop over time, engaging story and no damn singning.

And Flash

Flash Flash, hundred yard dash

Default Here's my point:

There were loads of good war films made when I was a kid using post-war tanks and planes painted grey with German crosses on (most famously The Battle of The Bulge) yet nowadays, despite access to and use of, wonderful authentic hardware, you often still end up with a crappy film with poor acting, script, direction, SFX and especially location. The equipment is most definitely not such an important aspect, is it?

Now a question: has anybody seen this (Also known as The Misfit Brigade)

and is it from the old-school of thick-eared Dirty Dozen style war films? Made in 1987.

I had all his books in paperback but I just couldn't stay with them, despite trying hard; gave them to the charity shop a month or so back

I agree with BossMark, having read all his books I'm a big fan but the film is terrible.

Watched two films on YouTube today, first up Breakthrough sequel to Cross of Iron which was alright as I was expecting it to be a pile of rubbish. Granted no where near the level of Cross of Iron. And The Bunker Antony Hopkins as Adolf Hitler, not bad for its time but clearly no where near the updated German version Downfall which was far more closer to the events of the time.

I got dragged to see that avengers movie. Actually fell asleep during it. How a director can make a fight scene boring I don't know, but this one did.

If you like special effects, this is the movie for you.

@ STEED... I've got Breakthrough on VHS tape somewhere. Rare movie and I'll have to see whether it's on ebay on disc. It was, as you say, not up there with Cross of Iron but still good.

Watching the rebuilds of Evangelion. (watched 1.0 last weekend, 2.0 just yesterday and 3.0 is scheduled for next weekend)

Me after 1.0

Very nice improvement of the animation & soundtrack and is very loyal and does justice to the first part of the original series so nothing confusing.....yet.

Me after 2.0

It was good, very good actually and then there's that epic ending yet visit to crazy town EVA is known for.

Or you could download it.

Watched another one on YouTube last night, The Dogs of War bit of a plodder but I did like the twist at the end of the film.
