Default Harpooner of the Year Voting

Each year Ed Ladner has taken it upon himself to conduct voting for the Harpooner of the Year and the induction of a new Lifetime Pooner into an awards section on his web site.

Ed handed over his site and Harpooner duties this year.
Please vote at:
http://www.harpoonpages.com/poonervote/pooner-Intro.php

Only votes cast through the above system will be counted but kind words on this forum about your choice is a grand way to recognize the contributions of your nominees.

The winners will be announced the first week in January. Voting closes within a couple hours of the new year.

Spread the word, please post your own version of this message on other sites so that as many Harpooners can be reached as possible.

Please contact pooner@harpoonpages.com if you have difficulties with the voting system.

Sincerely,
Anthony Eischens

I voted for Herman Hum to be the 2005 Pooner of the Year.

IMHO, no one (bar none) has done more to advance Harpoon (both Classic and H3) throughout the community and beyond in this past year.

No one else encourages scenario writing (which is the guts of Harpoon after all) more than Herman, by providing players, designers and potential designers both the places to go to enjoy the sims (like ScenShare, Files of ScenShare and ACG-SZO) and the reward for doing so, by writing simply "tons" of after action reports (AAR's).

Harpoon is more active and alive today because of what Herman has done. Bravo.

I voted for Ed Ladner to receive the Lifetime Pooner award.

Ed's been around Harpoon for longer than I can remember. He's what you call one of the "pillars of the community" when it comes to Harpoon. He quite simply deserves the recognition and thanks that comes with a Lifetime Pooner. Thanks, Ed.

We Canadians face the unpleasant prospect of getting out in the cold and voting in a federal election come January 23. You can do it from the comfort of your own home. Make sure you vote.

That's all lies, lies, and more da**ed lies. As usual, I will have to disagree with Brad. :rotfl:

I voted for Brad as the Harpoon player of the year. His constant work on the HCDB is felt by not only the HCG community, he has gratiously allowed it to be used by the H3 community in the creation of the PlayersDB (and he doesn't even play H3, yet ). His unselfish nature and willingness to help anyone and everyone involved in computer Harpoon is why I have lost so many nights to the computer. Curse you, CV32!

He's helped start up HarpGamer.com and the reason why ScenShare, FilesOfScenShare, and the SZO Harpoon section were even feasible.

There were many folks also deserving of the award, but Brad managed to edge them out. So that they aren't forgotten, I hope that everyone sees the work put out by Freek, Dave, Tony, Fred, Mark, Bruce, Frans, Vince, and all the others who continue to make this game fun! If I've left anyone out, it's because the Academy only gave me a finite period to say my thanks for the nomination.

Well, as a sop to his pride, I will agree with Brad and vote for Ed Ladner as the man of the century. Don't say I didn't agree with you at least once a year.

Brad took 31% of the vote in what was a close 4-way race for much of the month. Runner up had 19% of the vote, third and fourth place tied with 15% of the vote each.

Ed took 54% of the vote, nobody else having more than 11% of the vote

Congratulations gentlemen and thank you for your immeasurable contributions to Harpoon!
