Default DBSM+EAX Soundsim?

Hey guys I was wondering if there were any way to combine the great DBSM with the EAX Sound sim from the PTO. I love the DBSM but it lacks some sounds like incoming shell fire and little things like that. Torpedo explosion and what not.

Anybody have any idea? I don't want to destroy my install .

Unfortunately everybody has their own opinion of what is "best". All of the files in the Sound folder are .wav files, and you can open both folders side-by-side and listen to the same files from each one, and put the ones that are "best" for you into the same folder.

No disrespect taken.

The computer's onboard Sound Recorder (accessed through the Start Menu/All Programs/Accessories/Entertainment) will let you open any .wav file and listen to it. That way you can compare them directly.

There's nothing to break, as long as you don't change anything (volume, speed etc). All you'll be doing is listening to them. If you find the one in EAX you like better you can just move it to the DBSM folder. It will ask if you want to replace the one with the other. Click 'Yes' and it's done.

If you're still worried, you can right-click on the file and select 'Rename', and add 'orig' to the end, and the new one won't overwrite it. Another way would be to make a copy of the entire Sound folder, and label it 'Sound2' or 'Sound (orig)', thus having a backup.

You really don't want someone else doing this for you, as you would have to describe each file, and he would have to guess which one you meant, and would possibly guess wrong, and then you'd have to tell him he got it wrong and then he'd say "Do it yourself, then!"

This way you save several steps, and learn something in the process. Remember, every modder started out as someone who knew nothing at all, and started fiddling with it.

Yea we all had to crawl at some point in time.

I just thumbed threw both folders and saw that nothing would really over lap. So I installed EAX over it.

Now my hydrophones no longer work on my type IIb .

It overwrote somethings in the library and particles and something else and apparently that caused an issue. Either that or Webster's Ship Maneuvering fix.

Trying to get

OM_v705
OM_v705tp_v720
OMv720_Patch5
OMEGU_v300
OMEGU_v300_Patch7
OM_Harder_Escort_L1
Office Mod
DBSM_SH4
DBSM_SH4_Speech_Fix
Webster's Ship Maneuvering Fix
EAXsoundsim_withWebster'sManeuver_TMO19*****
Damage_caused_by_fires_TDW_1_2

****This one is the source of my confusion. There is not an OM version of this mod. Does that matter? Plus do I need Webster's Ship Maneuvering Fix for OM?

Should I try the stock version of the EAX soundsim?

Well since I have this thread open can any tell me how to remove the little crosshairs in the binoculars?

Figured it would be dumb to make a whole new thread on this little question.

No problem with changing the direction of your own thread. Unfortunately I have no clue how that one works. If you find out, please let me know.
