After Denmark, Norway and Iceland suspended use of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, France and Austria have said they will continue to use it. Austria, along with four other countries, stopped using doses from one batch after a woman died, but said there was no reason to suspend the vaccine entirely. The European Union’s EMA medicines regulator says there is no indication it leads to an increased risk of blood clots.

The pandemic situation is tense and worrying in the greater Paris region of France, says Health Minister Olivier Véran. "Every twelve minutes night and day, a Parisian is admitted to an intensive care bed,” he says.

As many as 12 regions in Italy could be declared “red zones” today with severe restrictions imposed from Monday. Bars and restaurants in those areas are set to be shut and students will return to online learning.

Portugal's prime minister, António Costa, has detailed a timetable for a "drip-by-drip" easing of a two-month lockdown on the mainland from Monday. Remote working will remain compulsory but creches, kindergartens and primary schools will reopen, as well as hairdressers, bookshops and car dealers. Next month, smaller shops and museums can reopen and cafes and restaurants can serve outdoors.

Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel have tested positive for Covid but are said to be showing minor symptoms. They have gone into isolation with their two children Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar.

Can you clarify that statement in a bit more depth Skybird, I noticed you didn't denounce any of his qualifications so what exactly makes him "dubious".

I think its OK for Mr. Bhakdi to have and share opinion. Especially since as moonlight pointed out with his qualifications out you certainly can't accuse him of being anti-science just anti-consensus. His warning coupled with E.U. leaderships own demand that pharmaceutical companies be held liable for what is still an experimental drug. Causes me to take a step back and give it at least a little consideration.

Bakhdi is a quite known corona "deniar", kind of, over here in Germany. He ran a full and quite successful academic career in Bacteriologoy until ten years ago, when he retired, he made some discoveries and received some academic praises and awards. So far so good.

But after that he increasingly started to become known for dubious theories and statements, culminating in claims on Corona that long since have been refuted time and again, and has simply joined the side of conspriation theoreticists wandering through talk shows with pseudo-scientific revelations that are in simple ignorration of proving scientific evidences demonstrating the opposite of his claims and debts.

He was a very respected medical scientists, once. But as an old man, he did not manage to keep his narcissism under control, me thinks, and reminds me of an elder person that, like many other elder, cannot accept to not be right, and stubbornly tries to push his subjective interperation of reality through, no matter what. In Germany, he now is seen as a "Lachnummer" (laughing stock?). Except by conspiration theoretists and corona deniars, of course.

Once a shiny, speedy train, now completely derailed. One should know whne the show is over, and then leave the stage. He couldn't, and has overstayed his time.

His youtube channel has been shut down due to violating youtube guidelines regarding propagating untruths that mislead the public, or however they precisely call it.

You can find more on him when gooling his name, its mostly in German, however. More than typing in this ^ I could not care for him.

Here in Denmark the Parliament has decided to fully open the country(no restriction whatsoever) when every person above 50 and vulnerable have received the vaccine.

Just want to clarify here there is no president in this country that can order states to make vaccines available to all adults by a certain date. Especially under the Emergency Use Act which prohibits any state from purchasing the vaccine directly. It might better presented if it read: Biden ordered the Federal government to purchase enough vaccines and have it distributed in time so that each state can vaccinate all adults by May 1st.
