@Aktungbby: Not the "SS Virginian", but this film was heading in the right direction

You, again!
Well done!
I thought i could get this going on forever

Yes, that's it! "E la nave va", by Fellini.
Terrific film by Frederico Fellini, from 1983. An italian-french co-production filmed in the Cinecitta studios near Rome. I love it

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/And_the_Ship_Sails_On

The famous chicken-hypnotising scene

The Austro-Hungarian warship that sank the "GLORIA N.", the asked-for ocean liner. As usual, the serbs take the blame

Seems my decent hints in the music thread did not trigger the right reaction

Some photos of the film scenes:

The last sentence in the film spoken by one of the survivors, the journalist, sitting in the lifeboat with the love-sick rhinoceros, sailing into the night ..

And with this picture, over to Skidman

I never even got close.

I wanted to name HMS Thunder Child but that was a decade or so too early and not the right path.

I really thought you had it, following your questions

@Skidman That was nice, how did you find it? Just curious.

The new riddle: A musical instrument?

Because of the cartoon-like impression of the picture I thought it had to be a film from the late 60s or early 70s. When it turned out to be an 80s art house style production Fellini seemed very likely. Nice one

@ Catfish and Jimbuna: Yes, a musical instrument!
