Default Check This Out!

Check out Woot.com. One deal, once per day. I have bought a LOT of stuff from them, they really have off beat deals. The sale starts at midnight and goes until the stuff is gone. This particular one is 36 DVD's on America's war, from the civil war to 'Nam. Included is a whole lot of stuff, Victory at Sea series, Movies, Documentaries about WWII including a BUNCH of Submarine stuff. Sorry for the long winded post, the site is great and 100% trustworthy.

Nice I suppose but this site only sells one thing a day until sold out or until 11:59pmCTZ and also says in their FAQ it also says if you miss an item you cant get it no back orders. The only reason i say this is because by the time most people see this the item will be gone.Futher they dont ship outside the US not even to Canada! only some of the lower 48 and not all of them lame! But I am sure that one could find this set various other places with no trouble. Not to rag on Foldlucker or the site but Id advise anyone to read this sites FAQ very closely in a way you may be taking a risk if you dont.(they do not have very good return policy for one thing.) Cool site if you like the set up but I consider it bad business to not back up what you sell they have no customer support just read their FAQS trust me. This is one of those impluse buy sites whoever owns it is laughing all the way to the bank.It should also be noted that they seem to think it funny to have a "joke" fake comment from a Vietnam Vet suffering from flash backs on the add for this DVD set as a vet myself that alone is reason not to buy this product from this website.(it is right under the picture of the product says "second hand falsh backs" highly rude and insulting to anyone who has served in my OP.

Yea, they sell out the good deals very quickly, sometimes in seconds. This one lasted 8 hours.

I usually don't read the lame things they write and didn't in this case. Don't know anything about the return policy as I have never had to use it and I have been buying stuff from them for five years with no problems.

Of course, as in anything, its buyer beware. Some of the stuff they advertise, is pretty lame, some of it can be had cheaper, but some of their stuff is a great deal. (The pressure washer I bought for $89.00 when the same unit was priced at $150.00 in the retail stores comes to mind).

36 WWII DVD's, including, I think, the complete Victory at Sea series and a number of movies I have never seen for $20.00 plus the ever present and never increased $5.00 shipping I think qualifies as a deal. It's all academic, as it's sold out.

I've ordered three things from Woot! and always had a decent experience. The burden is on you to research what you are buying, but you will get the best price almost all the time.

It isn't Wal-Mart and you need to know going in that exchanges, refunds, etc are ALWAYS up to the retailer to set policy for. If you can't live with their policy, don't do business with them. I'll always give up a little quality for a lower price. The Sansa MP3 player and SD memory I've bought from them have been laughably low priced and I could afford to lose what I ventured. All products have been in great condition and operated perfectly. I won't hesitate to do business with them again. Yes, they tell bad jokes. I think it's their trademark and part of their appeal.

Well that is true but when a company has some form of CS you have some backup. I mean unless you are going to buy an AK-47 which will always work for most other things you want to know the company you bought it from is legit and will help you if you have a problem where as upon doing some reasearch on the web Woot will do nothing until you threaten to contact your CC company(a very bad sign as the folks who do this are just trying to keep the permisson to accept a given cc provider too amny complants froma seller and bye-bye). Wasnt really saying the DVD set was bad but I found it several other places for within $5.00 up or down of Woots price(the same to me when you add in shipping) And you can buy Victory at Sea for $5.00 plus your local sales tax and have it right then and there at Wal-Mart and Prob K-Mart as well. I myself reserve buying thigs off the web when getting a given item is not possiable by other means. Some of you may like the gimmick but I for one am not a sucker for this style of sales. And that is the thing as well many of the items they sell are re-bulit so that is why they are so cheap you get what you pay for and when people say "come buy this item it is not perfect but look how much cheaper it is than the one that works right" it is like a usedcar salesman. And you guys dont meantion the Bags O crap where you pay $6.00 for 3 items that are junk and of say 12,000 orders 1 or 2 people get some nice item like an LCD tv. What a ruse to make money you know that they have made over a million dollars the last few times they did the BOC? How stupid can people get? You Woot lovers can say what ever you want to I will stick by my guns,2 fully loaded AK-47s not sold on Woot. Sorry this is getting way off topic now anyway it dosent really have anything to do with Silent Hunter 4 at all. Woot!

I look at the overall value, and overall, Woot has been worth the effort. I was talking to a friend about our old Drag Racing days and how much money we spent for some very shoddy parts. He reminded me of the 99% rule:

99.99% of all private sector goods and services have only one function and that is to separate you from your money; after that any use you get is purely by accident.

Truer words were never spoken!

Yep I'll write that down. The BOLD RED really worked all hial the drag racing king of knowlege! Right. Did you guys grow up in the USSR or something? My wife who was in born the Ukraine in the 70's tells me about how poorly things where made over there. There are plenty of very good compaines and reatailers in the US that make products that do work most of the time(no matter what with mass production there are going to be defects to a certain degree) and if they dont work or something goes wrong there are alot of places that will correct it that is how you stay in business backing your product. That 99.9% statement is an insult to american industry frankly.

I think Folducker is talking about the nature of the product, not the quality of production. After all, who NEEDS a cell phone? Billions of people lived without cell phones and were perfectly happy. They even drove to the store successfully without one. Now we are paying $100 per month because we can't drive to the convenience store without the ability to answer a sales call along the way.

We don't NEED decent healthcare. Billions of people lived with NO health care or scarily BAD healthcare. George Washington was one of millions killed by a healthcare system that made South American witchdoctors look enlightened. Those people were happy and thought they were living in the greatest times in the history of the earth. We grouse about whatever health care we have and demand it as a right. Hogwash!

Electricity is a luxury, not needed for decent human life. Augustus Caesar never had an electric shaver, a refrigerator or an automobile. But he's looked on as one of the luckiest and greatest men of history. We don't need all that crap either.

We are seriously wussified by our insistence on buying all these useless things we don't need: air conditioning, running water, restaurants, manufactured clothing, soap, vinyl siding from Sears, Woot!, and Amazon.com. Let's trash it all I say! Back to the stone age! Booga Booga!

Nah... we don't need to go back. I like my hot showers. I like being able to play SH4 on my days off instead of hunting and gathering my food.

What we do need to do is start appreciating what we've got.

Oh... and I've never ordered from Woot. I'll keep an eye on 'em in the future, too.

I posted this because it seemed like a good deal for a number of DVD's on a subject that a few of us are interested in. I am sorry I bothered.

As far as Drag Racing Knowledge, I don't know about the "kind of all knowlege" part, but I do have an NHRA Super Stock Eliminator National Record certificate with MY name on it. Not the easiest thing in the world to get.

If you actually believe that business is not, first and foremost, PROFIT dirven, you are living in a dream world since without profit, there is no business. (something our present administration seems not to understand.) I was involved in "American Industry" for 30 years. After seeing both sides, I don't care a rats a** in hell about insulting them.

This will be my LAST Post on this subject. Like I said earlier I am sorry opened this thread in the first place.

And drag racers and their NHRA Super Stock Eliminator National Record Certificate's! Completely useless unless you're interested in your engine staying together instead of kitting itself every 10,000 miles. Bah! Who needs engines anyway. Old Davey Crockett never had one and he got to the Alamo just fine.

Capitalism built the good things you enjoy and feel entitled to in the world you live in. Just because it's fashionable to bite the hand that feeds you doesn't make it right. Everything you own, and even that hot-looking wife of yours is the product of commercialism and free enterprise. Don't believe it? Here's a beauty queen of the 1920's.

Here's Ruth Malcomson, Miss America of 1924, the finest female specimen the country could produce in that age. I daresay that today she wouldn't warrant a second look. She CERTAINLY wouldn't be Miss America, in movies or even producing a local television commercial. Even our local newscasters look better than she did. And it's all brought to you by capitalism, commercialism, "wasteful" spending, selfish pursuit of profit. It's a lousy thing except that no other system can produce the grand lifestyle we all love to complain about. Viva la Woot!

You own you wife? Wow....(my wife is the product of a man and a woman last time I checked nothing fake about her and I dont own her either) man some of you guys have a very sad outlook on the world like Ben Frankiln said "Most men die at 25 and get buried at 75." those are ture words for some around here. And Maybe I am nuts but i dont think Miss 1924 looks bad at all. If you guys hate how things are done so much then why take part at all? You bought SH4 you fools. What a joke. I am so glad i have a better outlook on the world than you guys seem to. You guys need to go to a 3rd world country and help bulid a school or clinic or something that betters all mankind not yourself . I have done this in Cambodia and Vietnam they where paid for by american vets.If you have nothing to belive in other than buying things and complaining about how awful things are then you are a lost cause. You must mistake for me some sucker who is all caught up in commercialism or what ever you want to call it. And if Davy Crocket was around when something more modern ws around hed use it if he was around now hed make his last stand with an M-4 and theyd make a disney movie about it with Rockin Robbins as Davey sans any form of engine and hed have bought all his gear from Woot!. I was simply saying that 99.99% of goods and services sold or rendered are not bad obviously the idea behind any such thing is gain captail in exchange for something. I never said anything about my feelings towards captailism or commercialism or any other ism as a whole. I am a man that says and or types what he means nothing to read between the lines if it comes from my mouth.Maybe you guys do all that "the Man" tells you to do and like and how to own women or what ever but not me. I guess the Geroge Orwellian police will come to take me away now bye bye all off to the Woot! "shower" for me and then the Woot! oven fun fun. maybe you guys will Woot! and get a pillow filled with my hair. And then you will sell my wife and kids after they have had thier brain washing after that i am sure theyd be a good buy.Seig Heil.

Sheesh. Humor is lost on some people. And my sentence structure makes it clear by the conjunction "and" that the wife is not among the collection of things owned. That's MY station in life. Owned, lock, stock and barrel. And loving it!

You must not be too smart if you dont think that some of what i said back there was humor. I said I meant what I say no reading between the lines not that everything I say is seriuos if I say a joke I am meaning a joke.

Or maybe I made all these posts just to see you guys get nuts?
