Default SB live! and CAoD and motherboard sound

Hello,
I recently got the SB live for my computer, 24-bit, and loaded CAoD on my computer. The error line 522 thing came up, and I was wondering if I could go back to my motherboard sound and if that would let Aces work?
Also, how do you go back to use your original motherboard sound?
I didnt try to install this with my original motherboard sound, and I'm wondering if it would even work, now that I have SB live on my computer.
thanks,
mark
PS, in the Tactics section, it says that Aces will not work with a computer with SBlive, but since I have sound that comes from my motherboard, originally, if that would allow it to run.

Did you try putting CAOD in compatibility mode?

That won't work because CAOD is looking for the sound hardware at a specific address (A220 I5 D1) and the SBLive card only allows dynamic addressing.

Ah, I asked because I have a motherboard audio chip that will work with CAOD in XP only in compatibility mode (for Windows 95).

Most motherboards that use onboard audio chips (like mine) tend to be on the conservative side. So they will assign the audio chips to be as SB compatible as possible.

Thanks for the input, fellows. It worked on my old computer, that quietly gathers dust in my closet. So I can just bring her out and fire it up. It is well worth it, since CAoD remains one of the great subsims.

PS, I'm sure you know this by now, but to 100% shoot down incoming aircraft, put the "bee" at your 180, and your gun crew will bring it down all the time. (depending on if you manned the AA guns or not)
