Default CD/DVD burning software wanted

Simple question. Which CD/DCD burning software, freeware, is recommended as an alternative to Nero, which is good, but expensive and bulky?

These are the musts:

- Win7x64 compatible.

- simple, ergonomic handling, no gizzmoe fancy stuff (or handling nightmares like Windows Media Player)

- Purposes, exclusively:

1. burn data CD.
2. burn Data DVD
3. burn music CD playable from any HiFi CD deck.

Nothing else is needed.

Check out CD Burner Xp, it's like Nero with no frills, for example it also allows you to drag & drop mp3 files and convert them to an Audio disk. Despite its name works flawless on 7 64

CDBurnerXP is the one I use, although I've not had to for a while. Never had a duff disk unlike Easy and Nero.

http://cdburnerxp.se/

Edit: despite the name it does do DVDs, HD too.

Edit2: beaten to it by Penguin. At least we went for the same.

I use ImgBurn in the rare case I burn a CD or DVD

http://www.imgburn.com

can do everything you want and is about as lightweight as cdburnerxp, guess it all comes down to what kind of UI you prefer.

I can confirm that! I use CDBurnerXP on Win7/64bit for years without any problems! For me the best freeware burning program ever!

Best regards,

You realize Skybird, you've alerted all of the starforce software in Europe, and they are homing in on your position.

You know Penguin isn't a real German, he has a great sense of humour and some of his posts aren't exactly precision engineering. *

BurnAware Free, best free burner for me. Only one problem if you dont like toolbars. AVG Security toolbar has to be install ya can't skip it. But it seems to only install on IE browsers not FF.

Burnaware options
Data Disc
Blu-ray Disc
Boot Disc
Custom Disc
Audio CD
MP3 Disc
DVD Video
Burn Image
Copy to image
Make ISO
Make Boot Disc
Erase Disc
