Civilian aircraft? I'm not finding anything under German military experimental aircraft.

Here's a nice list of aircraft museums and I still can't find the object of our searching.

Moin.

@Buddhaid: Yes, it is a civilian experimental aircraft.

@Eisenwurst: A "sensible" aircraft It is not completely whacko, but sure unusual. It never got an license or permit to fly, so flights had to be done inofficially. Which is why it never flew officially, but reports tell it did, if not very well due to its weight. The inventor patented the special system, but it seems nothing much came of it.
My guess is that it would have been too complicated, too expensive, and it did not really work.

@Rockstar: not a De Lackner, civilian german invention built here.

@Eisenwurst: West-german, not a balloon, no oars.

All i can say is the museum in question is indeed listed here.

Is it man powered? Or does it have an engine?

Getting closer.. From the reports the initial version was to be man-powered, but it is said that a very small engine has been added for better (or any) performance. They also say that two types were built.

Yes. So most probably no Google picture search, but i did not try.
There are a few photos of the machine on the 'net, but hard to find if you do not exactly know what to search for.
Maybe Skybird ever heard of or saw it?

I am not sure how i shall even translate the german name or description of this thing lol.

I can add the museum is within less than 100 km of where i live.

edit: what you see on the picture is not a 'propellor' in the usual sense

will be online the next 5 or so hours and try to answer as quick as possible

Flapping, what you see is one of the outer wing tips.
