French General Émile Fayolle is greeted by Major General Robert Lee Bullard in New York. Ship Losses: Northland (United States) The schooner foundered in the Atlantic Ocean off Cape Henry, Virginia. She was later refloated in a severely leaking condition and beached.

Steamship SS Prince Rupert half sunk after it hit a reef in Swanson Bay. Death of Ryu Gwansun at Kyōjō Prison, Keijo, Japanese Korea. She died from injuries she sustained from torture and beatings inflicted by the Japanese prison officers. Ship Losses: Fujinoki Maru No.2 (Japan) The cargo ship ran aground in Tobashima Province. She broke up and was wrecked with the loss of two lives.

31-year-old Adolf Hitler returns to his native Austria to give speeches on behalf of the Nazi Party. French Army recruits training on “going over the top” in the dunes of Deauville. Ship Losses: Flandre (France) The cargo ship foundered in the English Channel off St. Brieuc, Côtes-du-Nord. Her crew survived. Speedwell (United States) The cargo ship sank in the Gulf of Mexico during a hurricane. Everyone abandoned ship in her lifeboats, but eight died in the boats from exhaustion and privation.

Japanese battleship IJN Nagato on her sea trials (The IJN Nagato is the only Japanese battleship that survives WWII. It is sunk at the Operation Crossroads nuclear test) Ship Losses: Katingo A. Lemos (Greece) The cargo ship foundered in the Atlantic Ocean 105 nautical miles (194 km) off Cape Finisterre, Spain.

Ship Losses: Albyn (Finland) The barque departed Norfolk, Virginia, United States for Gothenburg, Sweden. No further trace, presumed foundered in the Atlantic Ocean with the loss of all hands.

Ship Losses: HMCS CD54 (Royal Canadian Navy) The Admiralty-type drifter foundered on passage from Canada to the United Kingdom. Montclair (United States) The cargo ship ran aground on Ellis Island, New York. She was refloated on 21 October.

Baron Ishii Kikujirō with his staff at the Élysée Palace to officially take the post as Japanese ambassador to France. Ship Losses: Cometa (Norway) The coaster came ashore at Desterro, Brazil and was wrecked. Sorknes (Norway) The barque was dismasted and abandoned in the Atlantic Ocean. She was subsequently towed in to Barry, Glamorgan, United Kingdom and was hulked.

The armored cruiser USS Brooklyn at dry dock. The Suwałki Agreement is signed between Poland and Lithuania to institute a ceasefire in the Polish-Lithuanian War. However, Polish Chief of State Józef Piłsudski intends to capture the city Vilnius, controlled by Lithuania, in a false flag operation. Ship Losses: Elizabeth Alice (Belgium) The schooner foundered in the Bristol Channel. All six crew survived.

Polish General Lucjan Żeligowski (pictured) and his troops “mutiny” and launch an offensive against the Lithuanian-controlled town of Vilnius. However, the “mutiny” is a false flag operation ordered by Polish Chief of State Józef Piłsudski. Ship Losses: Zuleika (United Kingdom) The cargo ship came ashore at Las Palmas, Canary Islands, Spain. She was declared a total loss on 11 November.

Polish troops capture the city of Vilnius from Lithuania. Polish troops in the city. The 1st Cavalry Army units on a march during the Russian Civil War. The Russian Civil War followed the 1917 October Revolution and was fought between the Red Army raised by bolsheviks and the White Army led by anti-communist forces. Ship Losses: Mars (Finland) The auxiliary schooner collided with Eston ( United Kingdom) in the North Sea (54°12′N 0°08′W) and was abandoned. Masnedsund (United Kingdom) The cargo ship came ashore at Bacton, Norfolk. She was driven further up the beach on 10 October and was abandoned by her crew.
