You'll want the SCSoundEdit utility Kap I think...not the Database editor.

v1.02 is available at Subguru on the downloads page.

Then it's a case of unpacking all the wavs from the Russian sound mod, then putting them into a temporary folder, stick the sfx.agg file from the Akula/Kilo into the same temporary folder (making a backup of the original). Open up SCSoundEdit, and select the folder open button, then select the sfx.agg you have in the temp folder and click open Then select the folder open button again, and in the drop-down box, change the option from .agg files to .wav files...highlight all the wav files that you've extracted from the Russian sound mod and click open.
You should now have two columns full of pretty much the same stuff, R_COW_15.wav and the like. Now click Select all for both sides, and hit Replace Files.
Once that's all done and dusted (the last file should be torpfiresub.wav look for it in the third column), then shut down SCSoundEdit and copy the sfx.agg back into the Kilo/Akula folder...

That should do it...the only problems I've had so far is the annoying clicking sound...which is essentially a slight but noticeable click between wav files...so for example you get:

"Control Accoustics, new contact bearing CLICK Two CLICK Three CLICK Zero. CLICK Designation Sierra CLICK One CLICK Two."

Very annoying...but that's why you've got the backup of the old sfx.agg for if you can't find a workaround or can't put up with the clicking, you can revert back to the old voices...which is such a shame, because the new ones are quite good.

Those clicks are from the program that those wavs were made in, (it added those clicks when the files was saved ) I remember this from the past, I can remember same problem with some other wav files, and the clean up was done by using "Gold Wave" I believe. Who ever posted with the fix, advised to download the trial, and use to clean up the wav files. Don't remember what game or sim this was related to. but wav's are wav's and clicks are clicks.

Hope this gives you some ideas on those "clicks"
JimC.
