Default Opinion request - LSH3 2020 or GWX

Currently have LSH3 2020 installed and will someday try GWX but I was wondering - for those who have already played both (and I realize this is subjective) - which seems to be the more realistic and why? Why do you prefer one over the other?

They're just different.

GWX is more of a challenge in some areas and LSH is in others.

LSH has prettier graphics out of the box, but GWX is easier to mod with additional things like the TKSS uboat compilation, thefrog's destroyers, enviro mods, etc.

As an example, in GWX in Nov 1939, getting through the strait between Scotland and Scapa Flow is really easy, but finding convoys is hard. LSH, otoh, has a lot more traffic but getting through that strait more often than not results in being found by 5-6 destroyers and being depth charged for days...

You can do what ever you want with GWX more than LSH3, but...it’s no more GWX you’re playing.

LSH3 is great fun, amazing effects, plenty beautiful ships and environment.
With some practice, you can make LSH3 more difficult and realistic, that’s for sure. Great advantage, LSH3 is running solid rock.

Welp..based on everything I've read it looks like I'll give NYGM a try as most opinions I've seen hint at this being the closest to gritty realism that I'm looking for. Thanks for everyone's comments!

If you want gritty realism, NYGM with all of the h.sie and Stiebler options is a good way to go.

Just don't plan on seeing lots of traffic in comparison to LSH (or even GWX).

Great thing about SH3 and SH4 is there are tons of mods for any player.

CCoM, NYGM, GWX, WAC, LSH for SH3.

TMO, RFB, FOTRSU, Dark Waters, We Dive at Dawn, Soviet Waterways for SH4.
