Trust your girlfriend/wife to pick a good movie and she comes back with "Magic Mike"... See if you don't qualify for permanent and total disability from PTSD (recurring nightmares/flashbacks/suicidal ideation) after THAT! And the feminazis say men are sexually objectifying women?! Not true.

My GF and I watched the Das Boot miniseries version when we started dating, the whole 5-hours version I might add. She was thrilled by it, and she far from a history buff. Now when she hears a ping in any movie she immediately remembers how tense was Das Boot, and that it was real life story. She understood very well the drama of these poor sods and the tension of living in such squalor, where you could drown and die at each depth charge.

This lady has posted 150 reviews on Amazon. Rarely can you find one that's positive. She seems to have a complaint about everything.

I pity her husband/boyfriend. I'd probably rush to the recruiter and sign up for sub duty right away just to get away from her.

It is interesting at how much power and influence Midge has over some members of this forum. Some of you guys are FOCUSED on her. Wow.

I am pretty sure there are millions of people out there who also don't like Das Boot and millions more that have no desire to ever see it.

Other than political figures, I don't think we have had such an "outsider" like Midge have so much effect over people here.

And now we are starting ad hominem attacks against someone we don't know, who just exercised her right to post an opinion on a website.

Yikes! Why allow this woman to be that important to you?

I just noticed this thread.

So you all are saying Operation Petticoat wasn't the real thing back then? I've got to back up Midge on this. As it seems much more likely than Das Boot. Though I did find it a bit too much on the pornographic side though.

"FC's" review of Shattered Sword borders on being as bad as Midge's review of Das Boot. I've read the book three times and literally nothing in his review is true. It's the kind of over-the-top hyperbole that makes so many contrarian Amazon reviews so hilarious and frustrating to read.

Would anyone hate me if I was do a little bragging? I worked on the movie See Arnold Run as an extra for nine days and got a lot of scenes (in the background) with Jurgen Prochnow!

At times he looked right me. It was very cool to actually be a few feet from him. As proof, I am in the lower left of the screen in this shot looking up at him. Just thought I would share.

Bragging time over. Take care.

But...but...but...we still don't know that's you. I'm gonna need to see a photo ID. And a proof-of-purchase seal. And your SS number. And a...

Actually that's pretty cool. You and Ray Bradbury. In fact that's very very cool!

I just stumbled onto Midge's review. I really can't be angry or upset; it seemed pretty funny to me. Come on Midge, don't sugar coat it, tell us what you really think! I'm guessing that her idea of a good war movie is more along the lines of The Sound of Music.

I'd kind of like to see her review of Texas Chainsaw Massacre or one of the Night of the Living Dead movies.
