Default Das Boot

There is one thing that bothers me. When they crush-dive to the bottom in the Gibraltar Strait, they manage to stop the leakings. And then...they bring all the water from the other compartments to the comtrol room bilge in order to get it out again. What;s so special about the control room bilge...it was the only one with pumps ? Could the pumps push out the water from the interior at that depth....of 260 metres ?

Maybe it had something to do with the fact the Q tank is situated there. They were at a depth of c.700ft as memory serves, so it could have been too deep for normal pumps

Its an incident recounted from the book, but I don't have that to hand. The narrative though might yeald a clue

They stated at one point that the engine room pumps were knocked out, and unrepairable. I thought it was obvious; I don't know how you missed it.

Oh, well, now you have to go watch it again.:rotfl:
