Ach I have an appointment that day and on that hour.

Hope is that some green men have waved to the telescope from some planet nearby.

The old Boris Karloff movie Black Sabbath (1963) consisted I think of four short stories. One them was The Drop of Water. I can’t watch it and bury my head in a pillow when in one scene the old lady comes back to life. It still gives me the heebie jeebies.

Also thought of the film when i read Rockstar's post.

Mankind lives in a black hole anyway, even if the telescope will not prove this.

IIRC, they've been observing the black hole in the center of our galaxy, so that's probably what the announcement is about.

It sounds as if they finally found our way out of all this.

James Webb Space Telescope has reached L2 and operators have made calibrations which I think are complete. Some pics have been taken expecting more soon.

Makes me wonder if the latest news from the Event Horizon Telescope team’s super duper amazing mystery discovery announcement might be an attempt to remain relevant and keep the funding flowing.

No. The two projects have wildly different aims and wildly different capabilities suited to meet those aims.

Sagittarius A at the centre of the galaxy is confirmed to be a black hole. This they announced in seven press conferences around the globe. Seems they were afraid the monster bugger at the centre of our galaxy would suck their TV transmissions in and so they wanted to be sure.
