Default BDU Ark Royal messages - does it exist?

I'm at sea in february 1940 and I get several BDU messages telling me the Ark Royal is heading to Portsmouth.

Would this be eye candy or an actual scripted event?

Messages are as follows:

1) Proceed to channel approach between start point and Quessant

2) take up attacking position along the line of lizard head - los sept isles. Ark Royal is expected to pass eastward early on 13/2. Renown and Exeter early on 14/2

3) Message 2) repeated

4) Ark Royal was in 45 degrees north, 15 degrees West @ 1900/12/2 speed 22 knots expected port of destination is Portsmouth

5) U-37 and U-48 (I'm U-30) make every effort to take up attacking positions ordered. Until boats are dismissed from this position only particularly valuable targets are to be attacked. U-26 to occupy sqaure 3000 BE right half and square 1000 BE left half as attack area

6) U-26 to operate North of 40 degrees 30 minutes North. U-48 South of the line.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think that message is just for immersion, so no, you probably wouldn't get to see Ark on that trip. Are you using GWX, as there are more scripted 'real' vessels sailing?

Immersion messages, GWX added a lot of real radio traffic messages from WW2 to the sim to give you more of a feel of the war. Also to make you feel like you are not the only u-boat at sea. Do not be surprised if you happen to get a message with your u-boat number, it has happened to me, but it will be a immersion message also.

That sneaky GWX Team put a bunch of Easter Eggs in their mod.

Wouldn't hurt to go look. More than once I've been pleasantly surprised.

There used to be a thread about finding them iirc.

In a previous career i had U-48 and I was operating in that area when the messages came through.

Spent ages stooging around looking for the Ark but had no joy. Which was a bit sad!

How many times in real life did submarines get sent on wild goose chases?

Taking a look when close to the position may add to the immersion wether the messages are real or not.

I got the Ark Royal south to Plymouth, in the middle of the La Manche channel, approximately on 14.02.1940. In the "vanilla" version of SH5. I remember these these BdU messages as well. Some guys posted videos on youTube

with similar results, dated 08.November, although.

But when I installed the Wolves of Steel mod, v. 2.0.3, and started from zero, by the same time I failed to find the damned carrier no matter how hard I searched, rolled back to 10.02.1940, and searched in other neighbouring areas, but it had somehow always slip through my greedy fingers.
Sometimes I got BdU message, that Ark Royal had been in Portsmouth since 13.04. evening, but taking position as close as possible to Portsmouth I did not manage hear the bloody convoy pass. Even playing self-murder and entering the Portsmouth harbour I did not find the bloody Ark.

Seriously, does it ever exist?
TWoS team, someone, - can make that thing clear?

I remember those messages..

I've searched, searched and searched. I even googled for the route the ark royal sailed back then.

Never found it in game during those messages.

Got a great screenshot hiding somewhere of the Ark Royal ands it couple of escorts while I was going through Gibraltor. Only needed to turn about 90 degrees but was fresh out of eels There's just something almost magical about sinking flat tops, and the satisfaction in watching them sink and roll over.
