Hi All Submarines!
I have the old SH3 DVD, and an Windows 7 computer, which is "upgraded" to XP, due to my many old games.
Seen that there is a GWX2.0 that is available to download, to make this game even better, and also a patch 1.4b to be download.
Is this working to download and to be used with my old DVD?
Or do I have to download a new SH3 patch and then download the 1.4b, and later the GWX2.0 to make all work?
Im not a hacker, or very good on computer, so keep it simple.
Been playing SH3 since it was new, and I love the game still

Thanks in advance for answers

Hi mate:

First, install SH3 from your DVD. Second, apply the downloaded patch 1.4B. Third, install GWX with his installer.

Regards.

Default 4Gb patch

Very old CD's had Starforce copy protection. This might get in the way, but should run OK on Windows XP. However the CD is not the best way to go... read on...

If you want to run GWX you really need to install one of the following:

  • The 4Gb patch
  • HSie's hard coded fixes (which includes the 4Gb patch)
  • Steibler's mods to HSie's files
If you don't it's very likely you will run out of addressable memory (regardless how much physical memory is installed). This usually happens part way through a campaign, depending on how much stuff you have actually added.

Worse news is that the above 4Gb patches involve changing the sh3.exe file then writing stuff to other files. And the instructions are a bit confusing.

Best news is that Onealex has done all this for you. Download his supermod, which has all you need for a super GWX experience. Bask in the happy thought you have bought a kosher copy of SH3 so you are almost legal as regards copyright. If you do not have 1920x1080 graphics capability you might have to disable the widescreen mod which is default for Onealex.

But does Onealex install properly on XP? I think so...
