Never got to play 688, though it was one of the games that convinced me to get my first computer. First sub game was Silent Service on my best friend's Nintendo, then SS II on the Tandy 1000. Been hooked since.

And I was a big Panzer General fan, too.

That's the Janes 688I? I showed a guy that served on a nuke the manual. (he didn't play subsims) He thumbed through it and told me he couldn't talk about any of it.

Yep!

on my very first pentium I played this game completly inside out
mostly Me : allies vs my dad : Axis

good competition in those days
was hard to fight a losing battle (knowing history) but as soon we got to the later campaigns roles turned around
Did anybody play the original Steel Panthers?

I've got Allied General, Panzer General 1 and 2, Pacific General and Fantasy General. I also have SP:MBT and SP:WW2 by SPCamo. I think they are great games and very thought provoking.

Christopher
I never owned Fantasy General. I didn't paticularly care for Pacific General.
