Something to accompany torpedo boats?

Buddhaid already asked that - no.

So, a PT boat ?

No. You already asked if it was a transport or support ship and I answered yes. Then later it was converted for another use. The ship I am looking for is the converted ship.

So it has been converted from a support/transport to not warship but with two smaller guns in its later role, close to the end of the war, but it was never used in WW2.
I admit i have no idea what this could possibly be

You answered to Moonlight that it's not a Casa Grande-class dock landing ship.

But maybe some other type of a landing craft? Like the type c or so? http://www.digitalhistoryarchive.com.../0007_orig.jpg

New tactic. Is this vessel exclusive to the Pacific, South Pacific, or Southwest Pacific war zones?

After WW2 this ship was converted for specialized work. It operated in the Pacific Ocean.
