Speaking of small and large, which kill flag category do "medium" merchants fit in? In fact, does "small" refer to sampans and junks, or does it also include ships like small engine aft and small european composite?

Default Thanks Sober and sqk7744!

New tower looks great, and thanks for arranging the kill flags under the Ship's Crest, much more room for dead Japanese merchies!

I'm off to the Philippines to drop off some "advisors" for the Filipino guerrillas, near Batangas on Luzon....but SSSSSHHHHH Don't tell Tojo, he may get mad.

Take care and Thanks again for the wonderful work you are doing.

Default what is comsidered small

It's just my two cents but I would think anything that is not over 1000 tons would be considered small, however I would also believe that an unarmed Tug would fit this category also.

Basically I consider anything specifically designed for Trans-oceanic movement of Cargo, Bulk Liquids, and/or Passengers fits into the "Large" Merchants, (Maru), category, anything else designed for short haul, coastal type service should go into the "small" merchant one. Which leaves only the ones designed to go sailing around looking for things to Shoot, Depth Charge, or Ram would go into the "Naval" category.

I hope this is helpful, of course any other opinions / considerations are welcome.

Default Cancel a new Kill Flag request please?

I sent a request for a kill flag for my USS Drum, but things seem to be going haywire with that career, so I've put in on hold for a while and started a new one to see if the hiccups were career-specific or affected my whole game.

Btw, maybe one of you guys can explain this: no matter what I do, my patrol count is stuck at 0 and I keep getting First Patrol Awards for my USS Tuna with which I started that career!

Anyway, new career has gotten off to a damn good start, I must say! 1 Escort Carrier and 1 Heavy Cruiser sent to Davey Jone's locker on my very first patrol! So you might receive a Kill Flag request for the USS Flying Fish in the next day or two

Off to d/l the skin for that boat!

Good rules to live by JimRat! It does look like under 500tns is a small merch:

Nah , i just seen a patrol log on the net where an 83 tonner was classed as a maru . Maybe for the sake of killflags and SH4 , class anything that says its a sampan to be a small merchant . Everything else a maru . Battleships is another story .

Holy smokes, i need to stick my head out of my own little corner of the mod forum more often. sqk7744, youve done one heck of a job here. I was wondering where all the cool flags were coming from, and how more and more of the community was sporting them in their sig files. I'm gonna have to join in on the fun here. Tis late for me though , ill try it out tommrrow or the day after. Think i'll start a new boat/career when i do.

Last night after we sank another merchant and were talking about it inside, we heard a 'thud' against the conning tower. We quietly climbed out only to find these guys looking and pointing at the paintjob on our sub:

Now I couldn't quite make out what they were rambling on about but the tone in which the conversation took place couldn't have meant anything other than sheer admiration.

You guys rock!

Ya, its my favorite for some odd reason. I just like the history behind it i guess. It was there at pearl, and saw the war through. Shame she met her end at the scrappers torch.

I'll second that.
