I did it on max settings with an upgraded Sturgeon... Key is NOT to go inside the inlet, stay at entrance. This way you can go deep to 430ft to egress. TMA Kirov and fire at around 8000 yards. Yes they may well miss but seeker head has 4000 yard acquisition range. Obviously set for shallow and throw in a moss for good measure to keep them busy. Engage and re-engage at 7-8000 yards. Also try to aim for 70-90% TMA... The key here is to use torps and keep your distance and avoid active detection so watch ur ship / own ship sensors.

The aircraft did not want to attack me in the inlet in this scenario, they flew up and down the coast. One of the helos was looking for me in completely the wrong place even while ships were sinking near it. I can't understand why the helos in particular didn't hunt me down in the inlet. Could the acoustic properties of the inlet plus the moss decoys I used have had an effect? Alternatively, could it be a limitation of the AI which perhaps identifies water in the inlet as land? Also my sub was practically sitting on the bottom and I've noticed before with torpedoes a certain blindness to subs on our near the bottom, perhaps that is also a limitation of the AI.

I came so close last night. Got all three surface combatants, but the tacair got me eventually. I was below the layer and 12kyds astern of the closest ship when I fired.

I'm going to try the mod that lowers MAD range to 500yds. I think these guys are just too effective.

Finally got that son of a $#^@,on elite settings, in the inlet... with 3 torps, stayed below 200 took out its escorting first then pursued the kirov at slow speed and engaged him at long distance. I can't tell you how many attempts ....but it was ALOT.Now I can finally move to the next mission.

Well the inlet has a part that goes as deep as 600ft too. BTW, you might find yourself inside the inlet from the start.
