Default Deflection

To the designers:

Any tips on defelection shooting? I know deflection varies with the weight and velocity of each type of shell and with the strength of the wind but are there some general principles I should know?

And, is there a systematic use for the measurements when looking through the director sight?

Many thanks.

A while back I made this image in response to an email asking similar questions.
