Default SH5 asking for updates question.

I installed my SH5 on my PC again after a long spell away, it installed OK I think.
Then when I go to start the game it pops up with a scan for updates, then it pops up saying it can't access the Ubisoft server tray again later which I have done a few times but the same thing happens.

The game worked last time I used it but like I said it was a long time ago, any ideas please?

Col.

Hi, thanks but I don't have the download version, mine is on a disk in the box, had it years but like I said above, I recently installed it, no mods or anything.

Thank you again, not your fault but I went to download the Game Launcher and the Ubisoft site is down, it says check back soon.

It's no big deal, I have SH3 & SH4 working OK.

Hi first post here. I have exactly the same issue with SH5? Have contacted Ubisoft support but to implement the solution I need an IT PhD. Very frustrating.... looks like it's a simple connection issue, I have tried using a different network (via phone) just in case it's the router. Still no joy. Looks like I may never play this game now.

First, uninstall your current version of U-Play.

Then, install the latest version of U-Play (uplay.ubisoft.com)

It should download UplayInstaller.exe (124MB download).

Once installed, run SH5 and it should pull up U-play to the current servers and allow you to log in. Then (I assume you'll want to install TWoS?), change U-Play's settings so it doesn't automatically go online when you start the game.

Since we are talking about uplay,,

The scuttlebutt is we don't need to be online to play SH5.. I have set Uplay for the offline options. I live in rural farm country, my internet stinks on a good day. With everyone home on the net my internet has gone from bad to "assumed room temperature" ,, it takes forever to check email , if I can connect at all,, or post in these forums.

A lot of the time my internet is down. If I am offline and start a campaign it appears to start up and work fine. I save every so often "while offline".. If I come back later,, still offline and try to load a saved game I get the no connection error and it tells me to try again later.

Is SH5 truly no longer reliant on any internet connection? If someone has this figured out I's appreciate it.

attached is a screen showing my uplay settings.

You may not need U-Play "online" but I would imagine that a download version still tries to phone home from a license check standpoint.
