Second Patrol of 1939, October. Things started off relatively smooth after leaving Wilhelmshaven. Smooth seas and such. Until I reached the waters between Faroe island and the UK. I receive a radio report sighting of a convoy near my location. I decided to turn around to make contact and engage. On my way, I encountered a RAF Swordfish coming up on my 6. Made the order to do a emergency dive. Just when I got to periscope depth, my boat rocked about quite roughly, then I was getting damage reports from all sections of my boat. Dived to 50 meters to keep out of danger of the Swordfish while my crew dealt with the flooding. I decided to raise the boat to 40 meters. I noticed something odd after the ascent. The stern was hanging lower than the bow and the depth gauge was slowing going up, the stern was sinking! I compensated by keeping on 4 knots to stay above 40 meters. After enough time has passed, I made the order to surface the boat hoping it was safe. It indeed was, the RAF plane was nowhere in sight. Thankfully it was a couple hours away from night time allowing me to continue repairs without being spotted by anything. Took until late morning for everything to be fully repaired.

The damage

Not giving up! Not going back home without sinking a couple ships. So far it's been bad luck, after my repairs it's been nothing but rough seas and failing to catch up to reported convoys. I finally sighted a lone merchant but I had to break off the pursuit as it was quite clear that I wasn't going to catch up to him in this rough weather.

You know Jim, to date, I've never once seen a Drache in any of my careers...how can I do that?

I have created a new sound (real sound from historical videos) for this type of air unit. If you are interested, I can release it ...

Transfer to Bergen and one should be on a regular patrol loop.
