So I was on the bridge of a destroyer when I spotted a midget submarine.

Seriously...

Well I was at the Buffalo Naval Park and Museum at the time. But their website never mentioned anything about this little jewel:

I was on the bridge wing of the USS The Sullivans when I noticed it, boy was I surprised.

It's a Cos.Mo.S. Sea Horse 1 SDV (who ever wrote the info for the display didn't know that I think, they just called it a one man swimmer vehicle). This apparently was a civilian craft purchased by the SEALs with their discretionary funds and converted it to military use.

(Sorry for the quality of the photos, I had been crawling though the ships at the park for about five hours and I was really tired so the lighting looks a little off).

On behalf of the "Little" subs, I object to the turm 'midget'.
I shall henceforth ignore or belittle you.
BIGot.

Cool find TLAM.

@Privateer, you should know that size doesn't matter. It's the use it gets put to that makes all the difference.

I once heard that it isn't size or usage that matters....its presentation. Robin Williams said that IIRC....

Never mind the quality, feel the width

Nice find, good pics. At first I thought it was the craft Germany made to raid Scapa Flow.
