Can't identify this Allied warship from WW2...
Hello,
I would like to identify the ship at the beginning of this film: Picture: It seems to me that it's a British design. Probably a J-K&N-class destroyer, but the A and X gun houses seem very blocky (square) (whereas the B gun house seems to be the one normally carried by a J-class DD) as on an I-class or E&F-class destroyer. Or maybe the A gunhouse has been rotated 90°? What do you think? Last edited by Mister_M; 05-06-24 at 02:01 AM. |

my SWAG's would be, in no particular order, Gridley Class, Farragut Class, Gleaves Class, or Rudderow Class. The shadows in effect when the film was produced make it nigh impossible to make out distinguishing features. like i said above, it's tough to identify without a beam photo.

Thank you very much for your answer and suggestions. In fact, I'm pretty sure she is a British "modern" single-funnel destroyer (from J to Z class). But I can't figure out what the main guns are. Maybe a L-class with the 4in guns loadout instead of the 4.7in? |
