I'm catching up, still trying to figure a white dot on a dark green static image was a tank or whatever it was....

I was on that track, especially with the male and female varieties, but the 1940's dates threw me off.

Philips head screws make it a post 1935 object. Not much size so it is not supporting much weight not an engine mount. Also could be something pre 1935 with modern screws.

Part of an outdoor grill?

No it doesn't look particularly heavy duty other than the screws are pretty close together so it's meant to be strong.

How about a sheet metal seam on an aircraft.

It was one of the rivets on the left sponson, just below the cannon.

I think not. If you look at the top left you see the metal edge.
It is a mount of some kind a hindge of some sort?

No but it is used indoors and out.
