Photo labeled SS238 (Wahoo)? date is correct: "On May 23, the submarine departed for Mare Naval Ship Yard, and she arrived six days later to commence overhaul. From 11 July to 20 July the submarine underwent intensive post-repair trials and training." Her launch at Mare Island-note famous sig in pic!

Leving the dock at Mare Island and in the Mare Island/ Carquinez Strait-1942: mouth of the Napa River heading SSW for Golden Gate Bridge.

Found again 2006; sunk by Japanese air attack on or about OCT 11 1943 off Japan's La Perouse Strait

Originally HMS Vixen; HCMS Sioux escorted the aircraft carriers that attacked the German battleship Tirpitz, which was anchored at Altenfjord, Norway, During the D-Day assault on Juno Beach, Sioux bombarded shore batteries for forty minutes during the initial landing and provided fire support afterwards. She remained with the invasion force until July when she returned to Scapa Flow.
After returning to Scapa Flow, Sioux escorted four convoys to the Soviet Union and back. She was also the first Canadian warship to be fitted with bunks instead of hammocks.
