Subsim Connection interrupted ??
To the moderators,
10:43 I've been unable to connect to Subsim for the last hour or so via different browsers. I checked my connections, and I can connect to other sitesOK Is the link OK on your side ? Is anybody else having a similar problem ? Do you have any suggestions ? Prompt answer apreciated. JMV 16:30 It's ok now ! What happened ? Of course I was not able to send you the above message at the time. I don't think it's coming from me, or it is my IP ? Were other members having the same problem? Thanks for the answer. |

Relax. Neal could answer for certain, but it was probably a server glitch. Most of us couldn't access the forums either. It happens from time to time.
Bear in mind that SubSim handles a lot of traffic, and that the load is above the normal amount given the news of SH5. Given that membership is free to the public, we don't have an IT guy like many of the other sites. Neal does the best he can. |

Is it just me or is subsim unable to handle as much traffic as it used to? The increase the past few days was no doubt because of the announcement of SHV and that's also when the connection issues started to appear.
If you remember back around the time GWX was released, there was a huge increase in traffic, yet the forums worked without issues (IIRC). Sooo, does Neal have any idea if the power running the server has degraded or is it just the new stuff (after the last forum upgrade) that is stressing the servers more? |

Yes, the problem is on this side, I am trying to find a reliable server management company to check on this. The server we are using for the forums is significantly better than last year, but there is some kind of issue with it I do not understand. Bear with me, and PM me if you want to help by being a server monitor (you can alert me when the server goes down--something that should not happen at all).

Rgr that Neal. The connection issues arent that bad anymore and I wouldnt except much more traffic here until SHV is released (or GWX4, whichever comes first). Few spikes maybe if there's significant updates to SHV or GWX4, but that's all is my guess.
PS. Not saying that Subsim isnt getting new members daily, so TAKE YOUR FINGER OFF THAT KEELHAUL BUTTON! |

You are correct traffic has been pretty steady. There is something else I need to fix. Unfortunately, my server skills are limited and professional help is a. expensive, b. unreliable, c. sporadic

You're damn right, already seriously considering that matter. See next thread.
Neal : I am already a server Monitor, as I opened this thread. Of course I could only report AFTER the connection was reset... |

Ok, my server tech has made some changes. The free memory is back to normal and a search for a common word in the forum was back to lightning quick: Search: silent Showing results 1 to 25 of 500 Search took 2.07 seconds. Let's see how it goes over the next few days. Neal
