Help changing Availability date
Kaleuns:
I want to change the availability of some ships but I am a little confused. I found the file that I need in the Roster Folder but I found a new problem: As you can see in the pic, there are 2 red arrows, both of them pointing dates. Now, what is the correct one for my purpose? The upper or the lower one? What is the meaning of each one of the lines marked with red arrows? Whcih one should I change in order to have the ship available in a date of my choice without affecting the game (cause CTD)? Thanks a lot for your advice. CapZap

Both, basically.
Exactly the same Top red arrow shows when that ship class is available, 2nd when that particular ship is. Usually first ship dates is same date as at top red arrow And if you are changing the dates of a carrier check the sea folder cfg for the date its air group begins. Goes without saying the aircraft in that airgroup have to be available on that date too |

If I change the date in the top red arrow, all the date in the entries below must have the same date? So, I have to change for all the ships listed below? By doing this, will it cause any conflict with the entries in the .SCR and .RND campaign files? Sorry if keep bothering with this, but I want to avoid any action that could possibly cause malfunction of the game. Thanks again for your king help CapZap

So, this set of dates would be OK? [UnitClass] ClassName=BBDukeOfYork UnitType=11 AppearanceDate=19390901 ===== Modified DisappearanceDate=19551231 DisplayName=HMS Duke Of York [Unit 1] Name=HMS Duke of York DOC=19411104 DOD=19551231 Following your words, the appearance date was modified to 19390901, which makes the ship available to create more entries in the SCR or RND files, but if the date in entry named [Unit 1] is untouched, it should be fine since it is between the appearance and disappearance dates, right? I would change the first unit date to match the top availability date.
So there is actually a unit the game can choose. Making ships appear earlier wont affect the SCR or RND, its when you make them later you have a problem. Any reason you want the Duke earlier ? |

I want to change some ships appearance date to create some convoys and task forces for the early war period both in the Atlantic and the North Sea. The file I picked was just to illustrate my question. Thanks a lot for your kind replies. CapZap
