Oh ok rgr that. You're doing IL2 tonight, correct? It's just that at the moment I can't really play games which don't allow interruptions. I have an 8-week old puppy who requires almost constant attention, and I'd hate to crash my crate because the dog is ****ting on the floor, chewing my shoes or just generally destroying something

Well, that's certainly an interesting way to handle Barbarossa...

How did you manage to do that?

It's been an...interesting game...

Took Poland as normal, then the Frenchies threw history out of the window by attacking across the Maginot line, not one to miss the opportunity I drew them into Germany, then shut the door behind them and smashed them. Rolled across the undefended Maginot sector, into France and into Paris before the end of October. Somewhere along the line here, I got Turkey onto the Axis.
Britain was digging itself in, but I took a gamble and invaded Portsmouth in December, it was a hard slog up the British Isles, but by March 1940, they were in our hands.
So, after a skirmish with the Home Fleet in the Channel (which I won by dropping twenty tonnes of Stukas on them) I brought the forces back, and set them up along Poland (with a short diversion in the Low Countries and Norway).
May came, and I launched Barbarossa, straight into a great big Red Wall. All of the breakthroughs were halted, except in the south. The offensive towards Odessa started well and we got reasonably far.
We dropped in an assault team in Arkangelsk and tried to head inland towards Moscow but were forced back by supply issues.
Meanwhile from Turkey an armoured group pushed up towards Stalingrad, with a Motorised Inf heading out to Sverdlovsk. The Japs aren't on board yet (the Italians have only just arrived ) and we've got Stalingrad now, but Leningrad and Moscow are out of reach.
It's only a matter of time now before the Soviets regroup and then it's all over.

I hate Barbarossa....actually, hate is not strong enough a word for what I feel...in fact, I don't think there IS a word for the amount of loathing I have for that particular military event whilst playing as Germany in HOI, but if we don't go to them, then come '42, '43, they'll come to us.

"See how they come. Walking in a nice column. Oh, you bastards, you have no idea what I have in for you. Soon, you'll see how Lord calls for his own. If they've sinned, forgive them Lord, but be quick. I start sending them to you very soon."

The age old battle between Tank and Wooden Fence has a new victor, much to the confusion of this Cromwell tank driver...

A blast from the past...whilst digging through the harddrive to find something else, I came across these screenies from a memorable game of Forgotten Hope for BF1942.
The map was Crete, and the server was (IIRC) the Damned Priests (a good server). The JU-52 was loaded up while the pilot waited, but then more paratroopers came, and more and more, and still the pilot waited. It got so crowded that some of us decided to go on the wings (possible if the pilot takes it steady).
Unfortunately, the take-off did not go so well...

Still makes me chuckle remembering it
