Green Torpedo Track

In the attack map, the green line that shows where the torpedoes will go are not pointing at the ship I set up in the TDC.

So, I sneak up on a convoy, identify the nearest ship and send it to the TDC. I then check for range, put in the speed and put in my AOB from the regular map. I check the attack map and the green line is not pointing at my ship. It's pointing at the escort in front of the convoy.
I turn the TDC off but all that does is remove the white square with track from the attack map. I try to resend the data from the identification manual (basically start over) but the green torpedo track stays stuck on the escort.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks

I bought the game on amazon in 2009 and didn't have time to play it until now. "Original" cd game.
