Win 10 still does not allow to write on the folder. The write protected folder. Even running as admin it still does not let me save. It is a common issue. Still researching for a solution

The solution is likely this: Move the game files - the entire game folder - to any non-protected area, even on a stick if you want, and change the settings in Dosbox accordingly if you use the DOS version, or just make a shortcut to your desktop if you use the Windows version of the game (CAOD). And: if you don't want to repeat this for any sort of other program in Win10, I recommend you to adjust your computer privileges on Win10 so you can act as administrator. I think you can change this in your account settings in your OS, but I'm not sure about this. Here is a helpful link: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-c...ype-windows-10 If you want, I can provide you some screenshots from my Defend Reloaded 1.33 which has Dosbox 0.74 and which I use for the AOD DOS game. |

Meanwhile, my best greetings from the Medina Straight, Mediterranean Sea beween Sicily and the Italian continent. Nice place with many attractions, like Catalyna bombers dropping torpedos...

This is funny - I've been playing AOD on Dosbox for close to 10 years (gosh) and just experienced this same "cannot write save file" error tonight.
I'm on Linux though and haven't figured it out yet...if you find a solution, please share! |

I moved the folder to c:\dos\aod then dosbox worked normally and the game accepted to write a savefile. It works now.
