So far, so good. This fellow is feeding in the dark at the far end of my trap. I watched him for a while, then came back inside to cool off and wait for him to move into the kill zone.

I don’t know if they’ll get the message. Pigs are like squirrels in that they don’t seem to equate a dead member species with a possible threat nearby. Even if you dropped one with others around. They just go on about their business as though nothing happened.

Um, you're not Vegan, right?

Seriously, find a local Butcher to inspect and prep the carcass.
If you have to throw them a couple of bucks or donate a side of bacon, its cheap insurance.

As an old girlfriend in college informed me on a visit to her Illinois family hog farm while viewing the pig pens: "just don't keel over near the pigs" (heart attack, sprained ankle etc)whilst on the porcine hunt. As many have learned the hard way, sometimes U get the pork chops ...sometimes the pork chops gobble U leaving dentures and bone fragments behind!!??.. Pigs eat anything they can chew and feral pigs are utterly voracious. In fact out of 6 fatal attacks, the most recent was a 2019 attack on a 59 yearold woman caretaker in Anahuac, TX near Houston by multiple feral hogs....of all the attacks worldwide, the US has 24% of reprted attacks; and Texas has had 24% of all attacks reported in the US. Several were from wounded animals. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/scien...exas-73769069/

So I’ve read razorbacks are a pretty big problem in Texas. They also carry some pretty dreadful human transmissible diseases too. I hate to say it, but if the population was that out of control I just start shooting, pile them up and lite a match.

If it's a big, young sow and I have time, I'll field dress her and take the backstrap and hams, shoulders.

Pigs stayed away last night, they're pretty smart.

You should be happy-You have a happy home the animals like your garden.
I would be very happy having all these animal around me.

Yes they destroy things-Taking it into consideration a happy home makes it easier to fix those things.

This is my opinion.

I like the animals, I have several bird feeders, hummingbird feeders, butterfly feeders, and squirrel feeders. They are welcome to feast. The birds like to bathe in the sprinklers.

Even the coons, if they want the corn I leave for the pigs, I'm ok with that. Deer too, although they are fair game in deer hunting season.

But if they get into my garden, that's a problem and I will shoot them. I have a fence to keep them out as well as the surprise sprinkler and electric fence. I want those vegetables, those belong to me.

Now, feral hogs, no. They are the enemy. And I will kill them when they come around.

Hi Markus, yes we love animals too but some are just plain pests!! Kangaroos look nice but they make a mess in the garden and eat a lot of the plants. I use a home made slingshot, a good hit in their rumps sends them off!! The problem with roos, fences are no obstacle!!
