Default 3d models

I've been looking for quite sometime, for a way to open the .j3d files, and to convert them to 3ds. i've read allmost all the treads that talk about this subject but i unable to find any software to accomplish this task.

So, why do i need to convert j3d to 3ds. Well I'm a modeler, and my medium of choice is paper . Yes you read it correctly I build models using paper and card, and if you guys don't belived check this thread http://www.zealot.com/forum/showthre...ighlight=kursk
It's not my work, but shows what can be achieved with paper.
I'm currently designing a couple of subs, the Akula II and the Kilo, and i'm planing to design a few more, so I was thinking of using (as blueprints) the 3d models present, in Sub command, or Dangerous Waters to create the patterns needed to create these models. There are several ways to achieve this, one of the simpliest's would be to use this program: http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/ that allows to convert 3d models to patterns that you can cut and glue

I hope someone can shed some light into this issue.
