Default The Kaisers Pirate

Afternoon everyone

As many of you know I normally write about submarines however this time I have done something different.

In world war I a German freighter known as SMS Wolf became one of the most successful commerce raiders of the first world war.

Her story is here:

Thanks for sharing this marvelous story.

While reading it I came to think of a movie I saw on German tv in the end of the seventies.

It was about a freighter who quickly got rebuild to look like other ships to catch them
I remember two scenes from this movie.
An extra funnel is added to the 1/2 who is already there.
One of the side is painted so it float with the ice in the background.

That's extremely kind of you Dave but tbh the cost of postage US to UK is quite prohibitive (looking on eBay).

I'll probably order the kindle version (Approx £3 in coin of the realm)

I do appreciate your kind offer though

Well it's under $20 bucks so it's not that prohibitive but if you're happy with the electronic version .

The author was an actual prisoner on the Wolf in the last months of the war so he knows his subject and it has an interesting perspective, being written before WW2.
