Default Ahnenerbe Stop Watch

Can anyone tell me what the different colored rings are for on the AWS stop watch at the attack periscope station?

It’s for timing for speed using the fixed wire method. Start the stopwatch when the target bow crosses the wire and stop it when the stern crosses. Then read off the speed at the seconds hand on the colored ring corresponding to the target’s length (interpolating as necessary).

Caveat: Must be either pointed at the target or stopped.
