Destroyer command and silent hunter 2 multiplayer.

Me and my friend are trying to get a session together (him in silent hunter 2, me in destroyer command.) We tried the patches official and unofficial, that specifically say they help with multiplayer (I got them from subsim project messerwetzer.) And we also have gameranger downloaded, but that only says silent hunter 2, not destroyer command, i can't really find anything anything help us actually get a session going, or if someone has any tips that would help I'd gladly be appreciative of it, our next thought was himachi but my friend would prefer us to find another way if possible or to figure it completely out before we try again.
