Icon9 Compressed air gone. Boat dead in water

I am a newbie. I have SH3 through Steam. I went on patrol and did very well, sinking 4 convoy ships and evading 6 destroyers. Boy was I pleased. I then plotted to return to port. The boat suddenly stopped responding to commands with the message Cannot Comply. I was dead in the water. The engineer's report said that compressed air was gone. I could not find any way to repair this empty compressed air problem. What happened?

Check that your crew are not exhausted. If they are they will refuse to do work.

It would be nice from you if you can tell us what your problem was?

Default Exhausted crew.

Sorry, As I said I am a newbie. It turns out that I was not managing the crew properly. Many, if not most, were exhausted. That's why they would not respond to commands. It was not a compressed air issue.

Thanks. Now other people can understand their problem. Yep, managing properly your crew is a crucial task. Living and learning.
